Let go and sleep like a Baby
Another sleepless night
Sleepless again...

Letting go of sleeplessness is apart of any "letting go" process.

But are you ready? Are you tired? Are you fed-up? Then let go... and sleep like a baby.

What does sleeplessness and letting go have in common? A stress response is a state of alertness. Adrenalin and cortisol floods our systems and keeps us from a good nights sleep for one, but initiates many horrible health issues when it is chronic...and it most likely is.
Many of us lead stressful busy lives and the result is too much of too much. The hormones and chemicals that are meant to save us in a life threatening situation now interfere with our well-being.

Why do so many of us have difficulty relaxing? Because we are out of sync, plane and simple, hormones and chemicals in our system are out of whack. Without change, suffering will continue.

Typically, when we finally finally decide to let go, it is initiated by an act of desperation.

If change is so good for us why is it so hard? Well, we are hard wired that way. Our instinctual brain doesn't like change. Change makes this "safety and security brain" edgy, and it dominates our mental processed if we are worried about safety security or survival... or any one that we love and we worry about that too. But this brain has limitations, it has not ability to rationalize, so doesn't recognize the difference between a life threatening situation and that on everyday stress. Stress is stress and the matching physiology is not healthy and when it is chronic, you have big trouble. Obesity, heart disease, risk to many diseases including diabetes, cancer and heart attacks.

I let go of sleeplessness...

As a professional business woman I have been subject to my own elevated stress levels that created many sleepless nights. I suffered through many long hours laying in bed, frustration and restless watching the clock tick away, 4 am, 5 am 6! Getting up, reading, going back to bed, busy mind, irritated, short tempered and tired. I used to dread the sound of the alarm and waking up exhausted, eyes burning and dry, if I could only role over and go to sleep. Ahhh those days are gone, sleeping well people!

But I know what it is like, I have experienced that knot in my gut, the tight chest, constantly trying to ease the discomfort with drawing air slowly into my lungs, all in the attempt to calm my sense of unease. My cranium feeling a bit fuzzy... and the sleepless nights that leave a sense of exhaustion and dread for another busy day.

So why do we live in this state? We are powerful individuals that can pack a lot of dynamic energy into each and every day. We are A type personalities baby! And that's the problem with being a capital "A", over achiever... it's stressful packing perfection around.

How do we change? Like all letting go processing it is a process and "A" types are just as capable of change. BUT, WE must want to change! This means our desire to change must be greater than our desire to remain the same. Ahhhhh. It's flow...

What might change look like?  Movement from what is. A different direction, a shift... getting un-stuck.
It could look like a schedule change, adopting a more relaxed morning. Ensuring you have support, get away for a weekend retreat, have a massage to relax body mind and soul so you have time to enjoy the things you like.

Connection, It may look like more time spent with friends that offer support and friendship. It may mean more family time, building the bonds that will matter deeply to you, in 10 years or after retirement.

Shift, It may look like a new career, a position that brings passion into your work. A lifestyle career choice that flows with core values and higher purpose. Finding your beacon, true North, living your dream!

Change, possibly downsizing houses to ease financial pressure that will allow it all to happen, or purchasing a new vacation home, an investment for the future and to be enjoyed each weekend.

Clarity: understanding what is true to your core, what you really want and why it is important is fundamental if your going to change. We need clarity body, mind and soul. Help can be found through mind body connection therapies, like Homeopathy, Deep Issue Massage, coaching and counseling

Perception, what you believe will be. We create our own reality. when we discover what is really important, health and well-being verses stress. Struggling to hold on or letting goooo..... perception is at the center of change.

A wake-up call

What I do understand is , sometimes we need a wake-up call, a brush with death, a major health concern before we "wake up and shift". But why wait for the "SH#@*T" to hit the fan?

I understand the psychology around change, many find change daunting. Better to stick with what we know that to explore the unknown.

When it begin to be that way... when we teach our children about danger? When we tell them, don't do that you may get hurt, when we killed the explorer within ourselves? Somewhere we went from the child exploring each and every day to a reality that is much smaller, limited, restrictive. Sounds a bit like stress. An inward movement, a narrow perception, like the blinders on a horse, be careful don't look left.

Change doesn't have to be scary. Change can be liberating, opening a new door, breathing new life and opportunities never before considered. Change can be exciting, creative, wonderful.

It's funny, every time I have explore the psyche, nobody want to use the "transformation" word... it's too "flaky", but the answer each and every time is... don't say the word, but in the end everyone I work with is looking for transformation. It's not flaky at all. It is a natural part of psychological evolution, the missing link to higher purpose, higher thinking, health and happiness. Nothing scary or flaky about that! It's healthy!

What ever change you make, you need to ensure that your physiology changes to a positive flow or hormones and chemicals and a clearing and cleansing of negative flow.

How this works? Positive physiology results from laughter, feelings of joy, connection with others, allowing rest and relaxation, meditation, mindfulness, doing things you enjoy, finding passion in your work, taking time to learn and explore.

Finding passion can be explored through understanding, knowing your strengths and weaknesses. The 6 spheres of holistic well-being can be your foundation for exploration. Finding your core values within the sphere, Physical, mental, emotional, environmental, intellectual and spiritual realms. It's being Human.

The process of change can be re-veiling, awakening, transforming and restful. Clarity brings peace of mind, a good nights sleep and a sense of well-being.

A good nights rest, can be as simple as change... a penny for your thoughts? If YOU are ready to transform... Until we speak in person, stay well
xo
